Steph + Jono
Adelaide | South Australia
I’ll give you the 8 second version straight up. The original plan was to have an Adelaide Hills winery wedding, complete with over a hundred guests, an epic shin dig for sure. A spur of the moment change of circumstances due to some imminent government restrictions on gatherings saw this beautiful, elopement style wedding thrown together in less than 24 hours, and not a beat was missed.
As soon as I got the text from Steph at close to 10pm the night before, indicating they would be marrying, not on the approaching weekend, but instead tomorrow, I jumped at the chance to be involved (because as if we weren’t gonna make this happen).
Their humble front yard in Adelaide suburbia was the setting, adorned with fiddle leaf figs and a wicker rug for styling. Just a handful of the absolute necessary guests gathered while other loved ones watched on via live streams from their little corners of the world as these two joined in one of the most personal and intimate ceremonies I’ve had the pleasure of capturing.
I think there’s something to be said about really drilling this whole wedding thing down to the bare bones; the focus honed on the love shared between two people with few distractions. It wasn’t the epic party they initially hoped for, but it was no less spectacular.
A couple of side notes about the day;
Dogs & bow ties
Leather jackets and wedding dresses
Hitting up that last light of the day, I harp on about it a lot, because it’s a thing.
