Peter + Chelsea
K1 by Geoff Hardy
I told Pete years ago that if he ever proposed to Chelsea, I wanted in on it. Whether or not he remembered my proposal {proposal …hehe, get it… ?} he hit me up anyway.
It was going to be the day of their anniversary (cuuute) and he was gonna pop the question over a styled picnic created by mega SA talent, MASE Events.
A little bad weather on the forecast saw the venue moved last minute from Kuitpo Forrest to the cellar door over at the incredible K1 Wines.
Here’s how it all went down… I rolled up at Peter’s place the day before and picked up the ring. He wanted to do the whole thing with the box, but where do you hide it? So the plan was that I’d palm it off to him during the shoot.
Next, how do you make it not look mega suspicious that there’s a photographer there during a special picnic without giving it all away? Well, we hatched a plan where I emailed the two with a tall tale about how I was doing a ‘styled shoot’ for the venue, and my models had pulled out last minute. I was now in desperate need for a couple of stand in’s to hold wine and eat some finger food…Chelsea took the bait and jumped at the chance.
As they arrived we had a quick catch up and under the guise of “testing the light” I asked Chelsea to stand in some spots which conveniently had her faced away from Pete, I passed him the box and motioned to him to go for it.
Once he was in position it all came together “look over at what Pete is doing”.
The surprise, shock, excitement, glee came in a flood of emotion. A beautiful preamble about their relationship was exclaimed by Pete. A brief few seconds past while Chelsea composed herself and she had to remind Pete, “you have to ask me though”, it was then we all realised Pete hadn’t actually said the magic words.
Anyway’s, spoiler alert, SHE SAID YES.
